​Why do I need to have my Chimney/Flue swept?

Chimneys need to allow free passage of dangerous combustion gasses. regular cleaning will remove soot and tar deposits, helping prevent dangerous chimney fires.

​Cleaning will increase the efficiency of some appliances, also removing birds nests, cobwebs and other blockages which could prevent these gasses from escaping.


​How often should I have my Chimney/Flue swept?

​The table below shows the official guidance given by the Guild of Master Sweeps and depends on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, duration of use, moisture content of wood (if used), type of chimney. We will be able to advise you more during our visit.
